Salter’s Hill provides a variety of services for people with learning disabilities which include care, support and the facilitation of the Creative Learning service. In addition there are many volunteering opportunities.

To ensure our high quality of service is maintained, everyone will receive training and support appropriate to their role (previous learning disability experience is not always required).

Training and support

Salter’s Hill recognises that in order to ensure an effective high quality service it is essential that staff at all levels are provided with appropriate training that develops the skills and abilities needed.

All staff will undertake a comprehensive internal Induction which according to experience may also include the externally accredited Common Induction Standards which leads naturally into the Health & Social Care Qualification and Credit framework.

Mandatory Training: All staff are required to maintain an ongoing standard of mandatory training which includes: First Aid; Fire; Food Hygiene; Medication; Health & Safety and Safeguarding.

This training is provided both internally and through local training organisations.

Other Training & Development: All staff receive regular support from their line manager through which other opportunities for development and learning are identified – the organisation will endeavour to meet all reasonable requests for training and demonstrates this commitment through its generous training budget.
