GIVE

MAKE A DIFFERENCE

We receive much of our funding from local authorities. Increasingly we are looking for voluntary donations and sponsors to enable us to offer more opportunities to adults with learning difficulties. Pictured is a Creative Learning arts and crafts session, can you help us to continue our work by making a donation?

To make a quick and easy donation, text SALT22 to 70070 to donate £5 to Salter’s Hill using a free Vodaphone service. Thank-you for your support!

How could your donation help?

  • £10 could buy two trowels for our horticultural course.
  • £20 could buy arts and crafts materials like quality paints to allow someone to express themselves creatively.
  • £50 could pay for someone to have a day out or take part in a leisure activity they couldn’t usually afford.
  • £75 could buy several hours of additional support to enable an individual to get out and about and participate in social activities within their local community.
  • £350 could buy a week’s holiday for one person to enjoy time with their friends, relaxing and gaining confidence in a new environment.

VOLUNTEER

As an organisation we are proud to boast a team of volunteers who are truly invaluable in enhancing the opportunities we can offer to the people we support. We recognise that there are a number of reasons why people choose to volunteer, this means that we are keen that the experience of volunteering should be as much about you as it is about us. As a volunteer you will be provided with an induction and appropriate training in addition to receiving ongoing support from our volunteer co-ordinator. You will have the opportunity to receive a regular newsletter and emails to keep you in touch with charity news and events. If you would like to become part of the team there are a variety of ways in which you can volunteer your time. We offer roles to suit your interests and availability. These include

  • Befriending an individual or group
  • Gardening
  • Support for Creative Learning sessions
  • Admin
  • Driving to ensure the people we support can arrive when and where they need to be

See our current shout-out for volunteers. We appreciate the time given by each and every volunteer and the range of new experiences and ideas which they can bring to our organisation.

EMPLOYER SUPPORTED VOLUNTEERING

In 2016 we welcomed groups of volunteers from organisations and businesses including:

  • Kohler Mira in Cheltenham- Watch our video to see how two groups of volunteers transformed the garden at Keeper's Cottage near Ledbury.

Projects undertaken in the past have included painting and decorating, clearing plants and shrubbery and help setting up our music festival. This support has enabled larger projects to be completed in less time, which is a great benefit to both our staff and the people we support.   For information about any aspect of volunteering at Salters Hill please contact our Volunteer Co-ordinator, 01531 671080 or email Laura.Evans@saltershill.org.uk for more information. You can also download an application form.

READ OUR NEWSLETTER FOR VOLUNTEERS.

We currently have opportunities for...

ADMIN VOLUNTEER.

Our service in Ledbury is looking for a volunteer who is interested in supporting the service Manager and staff team with day to day tasks in the office. This might include organising staff folders and filing information. The volunteer may also have the skills to take the minutes at monthly staff meetings and prepare these for the Manager.

The role will require a volunteer who has a basic understanding of how to use a computer and programs like Microsoft Word. Prior experience of admin work might be an advantage, but training can be provided. Volunteers will receive an induction and training including Safeguarding and they will have on-going support from our Volunteer Co-ordinator. Due to the nature of this role, volunteers will be asked to complete a DBS check at no cost to themselves, the outcome of this will be considered on an individual basis.

For more information about any of our volunteering opportunities please contact our Volunteer Co-ordinator Laura via our admin office 01531 671080 or email laura.evans@saltershill.org.uk.

VOLUNTEER DRIVERS.

We are currently looking for volunteers who can pick up and drop off the people we support at different times throughout the day to enable them to take part in different activities and access paid and voluntary employment. After completing familiarisation training, the volunteer will be given the use of one of our charity's vehicles. They will also receive an induction and training including Safeguarding. The volunteer might be interested in doing the same route each week and spend time getting to know a particular group (some of our drivers have volunteered for over 10 years!), or they might like to volunteer on a more ad hoc basis- this role can be flexible. If you are interested, please contact our Volunteer Co-ordinator Laura for a friendly chat- laura.evans@saltershill.org.uk or phone 01531 671080.

DIGITAL SKILLS BUDDY

We are looking for a friendly and reliable volunteer who can spend an hour each week teaching an adult with a learning disability the skills they need to use an I-pad or electronic tablet to stay in touch with friends and family and for entertainment. This could include learning how to use email and social media safely. You do not need to be a computer expert, but you should be confident in showing somebody else how to use a tablet to stay in touch with friends and family. If you are interested, please contact our Volunteer Co-ordinator Laura for a friendly chat- laura.evans@saltershill.org.uk or phone 01531 671080. Take a look at the video clip below to hear about the kinds of things you could support somebody to do as a Digital Skills Buddy.

Please note: once these videos have finished playing they will link to other You-tube videos which are available. Salter's Hill Charity do not accept any responsibility for the content or selection of these videos.
